Neil Young Interview

Here is a very interesting and revealing interview with Neil Young - I for one never knew that he held a patent on a control system for model trains :)

Just as day is dawning….

I was flicking through various TV channels this morning, when I landed on HBO Family and found that they were showing Postman Pat, complete with the original comedy Northern accents (even though the picture from the website is covered in American flags). It was truly an OMGLOLZ!! moment…

For non-British types who don’t understand why a supposedly grown man is so interested in a pre-school programme, I refer ye to yonder Wikipedia passage:

Postman Pat: - “Postman Pat is a BBC stop motion animated children’s television series aimed at pre-school children, concerning the adventures of Pat, a postman in the (fictional) Yorkshire village of Greendale (inspired by the real valley of Longsleddale in Cumbria). The animated series was originally screened in 1981… Pat is the owner of a small black and white cat named Jess, who always travels with him. Other characters include his wife Sarah, the postmistress, Mrs Goggins, Ted Glen, Granny Dryden and the vicar, Reverend Timms.”

The Little Artists.

The Little Artists, AKA John Cake and Darren Neave have created some impressively faithful LEGO interpretations of notable works of modern art, and are exhibiting them at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool until January 29th. For those of us unable to attend, see here for photographs of the exhibition, including close-ups of the (LEGO-fied) featured artists and assorted Brit Art luminaries; I especially like the very accurate LEGO Loyd Grossman. :D

Scrobble?

So, I got around to getting one of those Audioscrobbler doodads - predictably, my username is wefallapart if you want to do something with it…

Commence pointing and sniggering at my playlist, ya bastards :P

Gaming Nostalgia.

I’ve been replaying Beneath A Steel Sky recently, after a gap of ooh, 11 years or so. I was 13 years old when I first played it, and thanks to the majesty of ScummVM I can once again relive my childhood. I’ve realised that between ScummVM and the MD, NES, and GB emulators that reside on my computer back in England that I may have a slight inclination towards the bitmappy video games of yesteryear. Playing these games again as a supposedly mature adult, it’s surprising that after a gap of 10 years in most cases, I can still remember pretty much every little trick that I used to finish each game back in those adolescent days. I guess it’s just like riding a bike after all….

All I need to do now is download a decent ZX Spectrum +2 emulator and my boyhood gaming collection will be complete. I have an urge to play the old isometric Batman game that needs to be satisfied. :)

Lauren Harries to move to ’safer’ LA.

Lauren Harries to move to ’safer’ LA, after family is attacked at home.

Brits of a certain age will remember seeing Lauren Harries on television years ago (or in recycled footage on pretty much every “TV’s greatest/worst [x]” talking head shows), back when she was still known as James Harries, the poncey little ‘child prodigy’ who supposedly had expert knowledge of antiques. Now she’s planning on moving to LA after 8 youths apparently broke into her family’s home and attacked her father, brother and herself.

People who would actually do something like that are the reason I want to firebomb people that wear their tracksuit pants tucked into their socks.
